#weekendinreview

Yet another busy weekend in the books. Summertime is always a busy time for me – great weather, cookouts, birthday parties, and family time is plentiful during the summer months. This weekend, as usual, was no exception.

Friday
Starlight Drive-In
My son and his BFF
Friday was a busy day on the work front. I had quite a bit of things I needed to get done before the evening festivities. I may have mentioned that my son has a summer wish list of all things he wants to do this summer. One of those things was the drive-in movies so mama made that happen. My girlfriends and I got together with our boys, packed up tons of food, lawn chairs and OFF and set out for the drive-in movies. We had a blast! The weather was perfect and the boys had a great time. My little cousin, GG, was visiting and came along. Despite being the only girl amongst our 4 8-year olds, she held her own and had fun. We saw Pirates of the Caribbean, but honestly, I can’t tell you what happened during the movie. Between chasing my two-year old around the parking lot, fulfilling juice box requests and sipping on mommy juice (aka wine), I haven’t a clue what happened. I guess I know what our next date night will be all about. We made it home about 11:30pm (we all refused to stay for the second movie LOL), the kids were wide awake and kept the party going. Somewhere around 2:30am (!!), they passed out and so did I.

Saturday
Saturday was chocked full of plans but didn’t even happen. We had movies, a birthday party/water party, and shopping to do and we did ABSOLUTELY NONE OF IT. I was still recovering from the night before and my husband (bless his heart) got up early with all the kids while I slept-in until 10:30 (which hardly ever happens). After I shook off the sleep, it was time to shower, get the kids showered and dressed and get our day started. By the time I got everything taken care of, we pretty much missed everything from the day and my two-year old went down for his nap late. So, I took the older ones with me to the store and dropped by my parents’ house for an impromptu cookout and family hangout. My cousins and uncles and aunts were hanging out in the backyard and the kids wanted to play so we stayed. I think we rolled in again close to 11:00pm (are you noticing a trend?) and went straight to bed…but not before my husband and I indulged in some Talenti Gelato once the kids were sleep. OMG! It was so good.

Sunday
I woke up bright and early Sunday morning to get ready for the Fit While Brown Summer Slay event. My friend and personal trainer, Moniek Richardson of Fit While Brown, does an annual event where she brings in vendors and guests from all walks of life to talk about everything all natural and healthy. There was a chef, all natural shea butter products, a makeup artist and of course me to talk about natural hair. It was a great event with a good turnout. I spent some time talking to folks afterwards before heading home to rest and meal plan for the rest of the day.
